Speedbicycles PRICE GUIDE
Speedbicycles PRICE GUIDE names the market value to the presented bicycles from Speedbicycles VIRTUAL MUSEUM in the survey period (MM/YY) plus a non-binding market forecast (arrow). Bicycles with a market value below US$ 500 will be stated with US$ <500. Bicycles with a market value above US$ 5'000 will be stated with US$ >5'000.
Market value
The market value defines a price that could be obtained from a short-term sale. The mentioned value always refers only to an individual bicycle*.
Collector value
The collector value may differ significantly from the market value. It is possible that individual fans are willing to pay up to a multiple of the market value for a particular model.
Dealer price
The dealer price is usually above the market value. It should be noted whether and which effort a provider gives with its offer**.
Rating
The overall condition of a bicycle is rated from 1-6. Devided in 0.25 steps.
1 = Immaculate. No defects. Complete and perfect.
2 = Good. Slight signs of usage. Original or professional restored.
3 = Used. Without major defects. Ready to ride and safe to ride.
4 = Abused. Limited ready to ride.
5 = Bad. Inadequate. Not ready to ride. Not necessarily complete.
6 = Scrap. Only for display use or very rare bicycles.
* historic racing and lightweight bikes should always be assessed individually like standard on historic racing cars and -motorbikes. Original racing bikes vary in frame sizes and in the quality of the equipment. Manufacturers supplied frames in various qualities (weight / workmanship) and offered these to their dealers to build. Bicycles of demonstrably prominent ownership achieve a premium. Correspondingly large is the variety of almost identical bikes and thus a discrepancy in value.
** Bicycles are offered in all conceivable conditions: from scrap metal through negligent workmanship or quick pimping for profit to high professional work-up. An original condition is more appreciated than a restoration. If you have concerns about buying or selling, the assessment by an expert is recommended.
